Peptides are the talk of the town right now in the health space.
Most people don’t know what they are, how many of them there are, what they’re designed to accomplish, or whether or not they’re safe.
I’ll be giving a brief explanation of peptides as a whole here, but my main focus for this article is BPC-157.
But first, what the hell are peptides?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids linked together by peptide bonds. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, and when they combine in a linear chain, they form peptides. Peptides can vary in length, ranging from just a few amino acids to several dozen.
It’s important to keep in mind that the safety profile of many peptides is strong. They’ve been used for a long time without adverse side effects reported. After all, they’re simply a chain of amino acids. In other words, your body recognizes it as something that is innate to the system which can be used for a range of biological functions.
There are different types of peptides, classified based on their length:
Dipeptides: Consist of two amino acids.
Tripeptides: Consist of three amino acids.
Oligopeptides: Contain a small number of amino acids, usually fewer than 20.
Polypeptides: Longer chains of amino acids, potentially forming proteins. While there is no strict cutoff, polypeptides often contain more than 20 amino acids.
Peptides play crucial roles in biological systems, acting as signaling molecules, hormones, neurotransmitters, and enzymes. They contribute to various physiological processes such as growth, immune response, and the regulation of metabolism.
In addition to their natural occurrence in living organisms, peptides have gained significant attention in the field of medicine and biotechnology.
Synthetic peptides can be designed for therapeutic purposes, such as in the development of drugs or diagnostic tools. Some peptides also have cosmetic applications, as they may be used in skincare products for their potential anti-aging or skin-repairing properties.
I firmly believe that this is will be a staple tool in the future of medicine and health, but we have to make it past the regulatory bullshit from the FDA since they just banned 17 peptides (including BPC-157) through injectable form.
Now, onto BPC-157.
BPC-157: Defined
BPC-157 is a peptide chain consisting of 15 amino acids.
It’s derived from a protective gastric protein found in the stomach.
Researchers have conducted numerous rodent studies on BPC-157 that show it has protective effects extending beyond the stomach and gastrointestinal tract. BPC-157 has been shown to benefit ulcers in the stomach, intestinal damage such as fistulas and inflammatory disorders, bone and joint healing and growth rates, and organ damage. It also has some influences on the brain. Researchers have observed marked protective effects when BPC-157 is administered to rats alongside a research toxin or damaging surgical procedure.
The human data available in the literature isn’t great, but the anecdotal data from people who have been using this peptide over the decades is bulletproof.
I’ve come across many incredible stories from others, which inspired me to get some myself, mainly for my goal of healing the gut due to a likelihood of leaky gut.
If you want to learn a bit more about the mechanisms behind its actions, read this article by Anabology on Twitter. It’s a fantastic breakdown.

Below, I’ve provided some screenshots based on my research of this peptide.
I find BPC-157 particularly powerful because of its angiogenic properties.
Angiogenesis refers to the creation of new blood vessels from pre-existing ones within the body. This is a major reason why we’re seeing such drastic improvements from injuries, cardiovascular health, and the like.
A large part of the reason why the FDA has banned many of these peptides is because, in my opinion, it’s a threat to Big Pharma. I also think that purity and shutting down compound pharmacies are considerations for the FDA.
You have to make sure the purity of the peptides you’re sourcing are of the highest quality for obvious reasons.
I source mine from YourProtocol, but they’re out of stock right now and I don’t know if they’re going to restock due to the situation with the FDA.
Their purity is off the charts.
As I mentioned, my main goal with BPC-157 is to heal my gut for good.
I don’t deal with any injuries. I’m going to continue to train on it and see how it facilitates better recovery. This is all about experimentation mode.
I’ll keep you guys updated.
