The natural universe conducts an energy current known as a direct current (DC).
DC energy flows through the entire planet and every living organism. It permeates the surface of our entire globe. DC energy is also what all living organisms use to function. From the movement of muscles to the beating of hearts. It’s universal
If you ever come across somebody skeptical who is new to the concept of grounding, this is the information you want to share with them straight off the bat.
Here’s what will blow your mind:
Your ENTIRE body is conductive.
Every cell.
The cytoplasm of each cell.
The cytoskeleton of each cell.
Every fluid in the body (blood, cerebrospinal fluid, synovial fluid, plasma and more).
Every tissue.
Every organ system.
This is the divine, innate intelligence your body carries from its evolutionary roots.
How Grounding Works
The earth's DC energy flows across its crust.
Anything conductive that touches the Earth becomes part of this natural circuit and because your body is highly conductive, you instantly connect to the global electrical circuit when you connect our bare feet with the Earth.
This is what I mean when I refer to human beings as ‘electric beings.’
There are incredible implications for this because now we have the research to prove it has a positive influence on every system of the body:
Central nervous system
Peripheral nervous system
Cardiovascular system
Musculoskeletal system
To think that we can connect to the Earth’s energy at any moment of the day with our shoes off to facilitate the healing process puts this work into perspective.
It gives you all the power.
You no longer have to believe that your health is in the hands of other professionals or institutions (although they play a key role in the right context).
Before we explore the scientific perspective, I want you to become aware of how you feel when you ground. The answer is always positive. Nobody ever responds with, “I feel like shit when I place my bare feet onto sand or soil.”
The Carnegie Curve Cycle
You’ve likely never heard about this phenomenon, but it’s imperative to understand in context to circadian biology, especially when I cover the study on it later in this article.
The Carnegie Curve is a DC cycle that rises and falls in a 24 hour pattern.
It becomes highest at 7 pm Universal Time (UT) and lowest at 3 am UT. It also falls into an elliptical pattern annually, in addition to being a daily cycle.
Aligning Circadian Biology Without Sunlight?!
This is the study that opened my mind to the true power of grounding.
The test subjects who lived for a month in an underground bunker, completely removed from exposure to natural daylight, were able to maintain an internal synchronization to a day/night rhythm even with the COMPLETE ABSENCE of sunlight.
Test subjects who lived for a month in an underground bunker that was additionally shielded from the DC energy of the earth (shielding over 99% of the earth's natural EMFs) became internally desynchronized, unable to maintain a consistent day/night rhythm.
In repeated experiments of 100+ test subjects, the only ones that became internally desynchronized were the ones shielded from the earth's DC energy pulse.
The ones that were only shielded from the sun while connected to the Earth’s DC energy didn’t experience this destabilization of their circadian rhythm.
In other words:
Grounding, independent of sunlight and even without it, was able to maintain a rock solid circadian rhythm.
This is something I haven’t seen on Twitter, especially from people who speak more on circadian biology than others.
There’s more to this study though.
Enter the Schumann Resonance.
This is described as the earth's double heartbeat, a 7.83 Hz and 14.1 Hz frequency that bathes the entire earth and everything on it in a healing dial tone.
Light isn’t the only factor that improves circadian biology, so does grounding and the Schumann resonance.
Now, let’s jump into the specific use cases for grounding. Keep in mind that this isn’t a comprehensive list.
Practical Applications of Grounding
My hunch is that grounding can be valuable for every disease model known to man since we evolved to be connected to the Earth for the majority of our lives.
Chronic Stress & Burn Out
Today, nearly everybody is going through a battle with chronic stress due to the modern environment.
Grounding is a mandatory part of the process to balance yourself out.
This is why we say somebody who’s relatively stress free is ‘grounded.’
Take a step back from what’s stressing you out and ground more often. Enjoy barefoot walks on the beach, in your backyard or anywhere with a natural Earth’s surface.
Digestive Problems
Fundamentally, most chronic digestive problems are inflammatory.
Grounding while you eat will reduce this chronic inflammation and stimulate more blood flow to the gut. Vagal tone also gets a boost which directly impacts your digestive capability.
Insomnia
Tossing and turning is a common struggle for people, especially for the gentlemen who onboard with me for The 80/20 Health System.
When you first wake up, expose your raw skin and eyes to natural light while grounding. This is one of the most effective ways to reset your circadian rhythm and address many sleep struggles.
Cancer Recovery
Walking is one of the best things you can do to recover from, and prevent remission in, cancer treatment. Walking was shown in a large medical study to significantly improves sleep in cancer patients (no matter which type or stage of cancer they had) and another study showed that walking improved outcome, decreased mortality rates, and predicted positive outcome in cancer recovery.
Those results were so impressive that some physicians even started prescribing adopting and walking a dog daily as a crucial part of a cancer care plan.
Add grounding to this and compound these fantastic results with:

Anxiety & Depression
Chronic inflammation is at the root of symptoms like anxiousness and depression.
Grounding stabilizes your autonomic nervous system by boosting your vagal tone.

Back & Joint Pain + Rehabilitation
Take weight off of your injury to allow it to recover by removing the force of gravity from your joints in a natural body of water.
Pools are included here, but I only advise the use of salt water ones to avoid the toxicity from chlorine and other harmful agents used in conventional pools.
Oceans, rivers, and lakes are the best.
My favorite is to swim in the ocean because you gain so many other benefits in addition to being grounded while you’re in the water.

This is near and dear to my heart since my father died of heart disease.
Exercise for heart health is a no brainer, but exercise and grounding is an absolute necessity for those worried about heart disease due to family history.
Here’s what grounding offers for your heart and the cardiovascular system:

Decreased blood viscosity
Better blood flow
Improved muscle performance
From every angle, it works wonders for your heart.
I highly suggest using a soft surface such as sand at the beach or grass since it will put less stress on your joints and reduce the risk of injury.
Grounding: An 80/20 Practice
I firmly believe that grounding is one of those fundamental practices that produces many health benefits with little effort, time, or thought.
You go outside, take your shoes off as much as possible, and put that practice on repeat. It’s more like 95/5 in my opinion.
