The Single Most Effective Sunscreen Available
It's free, but Big Sunscreen doesn't want you to know about this
With all this discussion about sunscreen, people seem to forget that sunbathing in early morning sunlight is, by far, the most effective “sunscreen” available in nature.
When you log onto Twitter, you’ll find hordes of people who believe that cutting out vegetable oils is the single most important factor to avoid sunburns.
While I do believe that limiting vegetable oil intake is important, it’s not as big of a deal in the context of burning as people make it out to be.
How do I know this to be true?
Because I have tested this on myself and have heard every single one of my clients report the same result. Many of my clients have not religiously cut out oxidized vegetable oil, yet they have still seen great results with the proper framework around light environment.
If vegetable oils were as big of a deal in this context, I wouldn’t be seeing that result in real time. The theory sounds good, but it doesn’t reflect itself in reality.
What’s so special about early AM sunlight?
Early morning sunlight is special due to a phenomenon I’ve written about in the past known as Rayleigh Scattering. This just explains the position of the sun in relation to the atmosphere. When it’s near the horizon, the light bounces towards Earth at an angle, which results in the scattering of blue and green light, leaving red and orange untouched.
The evidence on photobiomodulation (the red light spectrum) is extensive, and so sunbathing between sunrise and about 9/10 AM is the most powerful intervention to not only protect yourself from burns, but maintain overall health nearly effortlessly.
I have yet to see this strategy fail precisely because we are circadian beings.
Our hunter-gatherer ancestors would always rise with sunlight on most of their bare skin. To go even further in the historical timeline, all diurnal creatures have the same practice.
To argue against this would be to deny circadian biology itself.
If you need some scientific evidence of this, read the study below.
Ultraviolet light (UV-B) itself does technically damage the skin, but most people never think about the process of hormesis, or the fact that UV is always balanced with the red light spectrum.
The aim of this study was to identify the photoprotective effects of visible red light against UVB-induced skin damage in normal human dermal fibroblast cells using a transcriptomic approach.
Next-generation sequencing was employed to study how visible red light and UV-B exposure affect gene expression. Identified genes were further analyzed using literature-based biological pathway analysis. The mRNA levels of key genes were validated using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction assays.
The results?
“We observed that visible red light contributes to skin cell protection against UV-B by modulating gene expression that enhances the adaptive response to redox and inflammatory balancing and by upregulating genes involved in DNA excision repair processes.”
Remember what I mentioned about hormesis?
A small stressor, with adequate recovery, creates a stronger organism.
There’s your answer.
The human mammal is perfectly adapted to the environment it evolved in for hundreds of thousands of years. There is no denying this.
You can point to other studies that have shown an association between UV and skin cancer, yet those study designs are terrible and are only an association, at best. There are many confounding factors that I have discussed in depth.
How AM sunlight allows you to get more sunlight
Regardless of your skin type, focusing your energy on early morning sunbathing will prime your skin for midday sunlight conditions which has higher UV-A and UV-B light wavelengths.
It works if you’re consistent about it.
Once you get your concern about burning out of the way, it gets exciting.
Why is that, you ask?
Because then you leave the door wide open for more time spent under midday sunlight which is where you actually build your solar callus.
Solar callus is nothing more than a reference to melanin production.
Now, if you’ve kept up with my study of melanin, you’ll understand that it is a powerful polymer which blocks 99% of all UV.
AM sunbathing + midday sunbathing = ultimate skin protection stack.
When you build more melanin, you’re able to spend more time under sunlight without any negative consequences. In fact, it’s all upside.
You get the benefits of nitric oxide production which lowers blood pressure.
You allow photons to hit melanin which dissociates the water molecule to then create free electrons via the photoelectric effect. This is in reference to energy production through human photo-metabolism.
You’re able to spend more time outside which lowers stress, allows for more near-infrared light exposure. NIR stimulates mitochondrial melatonin, helping you sleep deeper at night.
You stimulate a range of endogenous peptides through the POMC gene which responds to sunlight on the skin and in the eyes. These peptides, like beta-endorphin and melanocyte stimulating hormone, are appetite suppressants and make you feel incredible.
You raise Vitamin D3 the natural way which protects you from cancer and maintains homeostasis and function within your system.
There is quite literally an endless list of benefits with this.
Yet, board certified opthamologists and dermatologists tell you to practice sun-avoidance and to do everything in your power to block it out.
I’m sure you can see the absurdity behind this.
They want to sell you their latest creams and procedures because they genuinely believe the truth is on their side. Next to nobody in the industry understands how their profession came into existence under the influence of Rockefeller and Big Pharma.
Once you understand the implications of what I’m speaking about here, there’s no going back. You’ve taken the Red Pill. Your illusions have been shattered for the better.
All of my clients take the Red Pill and are always willing to learn.
As a result, they gain incredible health benefits by developing a healthier relationship with their health and shifting their lifestyle accordingly.
This is the perfect time to work with me considering 2024 has just begun.
It’s your time to finally get off on the right foot and have it stick for good. Not just for your sake, but for the sake of your current or future family.
Much love,
Zaid
Wouldn’t getting sun an hour or two through sunset have the same protective benefits as sun at Sunrise?
So 9-10am is not the same everywhere in the world. What is the elevation/azimuth that is ideal for the conditions you describe?
In higher latitudes the angles will vary a lot at the same time of day, not to mention the distorting effect of Daylight Savings.
