We Still Live In The Dark Ages of Health
The health information you take for granted is lost on most people
What I love most about our little community on Twitter is that it connects people based on relatively high level health information,
Most doctors and medical professionals who have been in their respective fields don’t know a about a lot of the stuff we discuss and embody.
But being in this community makes things seem bigger than they are.
Many people say that the health information we share has caught on when I disagree wholeheartedly. Firstly, I’m talking to the average Joe every single day. I know how they think. I know what their general level of health education is in this current time.
How do I know?
Because I work in the health and wellness field from multiple fronts.
I ask a lot of questions to dig deep on how educated people really are on health.
Nine times out of ten, they fall short on the mark.
And not just by a small margin, but by a massive one.
The average person doesn’t think like we do. They don’t think about their well-being. They mostly do things out of habit. They certainly don’t reach the autistic levels of research that some people such as myself achieve.
That’s why they pay me money so I can coach them through the process.
Never discount how powerful the propaganda is, especially considering it’s been shoved down people’s throats for decades.
It’s going to take time for us to unwire these unhealthy mental models of health, but it’s achievable. The most powerful form of change begins with a grassroots movement.
Health Twitter has done a lot of incredible work, but don’t be seduced by idealistic notions that it’s hitting the mainstream yet because it’s not.
There’s still more work to be done, as always.
Much love,
