You’re welcome Zaid, your articles strike a chord with me, I have been telling everyone about the discoveries you have made. I tell everyone I know to ditch those terrible sunglasses and dump the sunscreen. I live in Perth West Australia with its Mediterranean climate and haven’t used sunglasses for a good ten years while I last used sunscreen in the 90’s. I let the amazing sun do its healing and my eyes modify my body to suit the day.

thank you Zaid, excellent article!

such an important topic! after several years of medical and alternative education, only these past 2 years I have been educated on the topic of circadian biology.

And you have been the first to get my attention on this.

Thank you once more!

Thank you for your easier to understand writing. Easier to understand than the big gun I originally learned it from (JK). Well done.

I am waiting for a kidney transplant, needed because of a genetic condition (FSGS). I have been told once I'm on immunosuppresant meds after transplant I will need to avoid the sun because of the increased risk of skin cancer. This goes against everything my body has always told me about the benefits of the sun. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I’d urge you to spend a lot more time in morning sunlight, while sunbathing moderately during the midday.

I choose to say moderately because immunosuppressant drugs can increase the risk of sunburn from what I’ve learned, and I don’t understand the full impact of those medications here.

Otherwise, there is no risk involved and it will only help facilitate your recovery from surgery.

As long as you don’t burn, all should be well.

They typically pull out the skin cancer argument because organ transplant recipients are at an increased risk of skin cancer from what I’ve read.

But again, these people are likely clueless as to what and what doesn’t cause skin cancer. Vitamin D3, mitochondrial melatonin, being outside, all major factors that aid the immune system and healing process.

We also have to consider the type of skin cancer. Melanoma isn’t caused by sunlight exposure. Squamous and basal cell are a different story, but there are still so many factors at work.

What you should really focus on as well is blocking artificial light in your environment, especially after sunset by using darkness and circadian friendly lighting. That is mandatory, especially for somebody in your scenario where the need for healing is crucial.

At the end of the day, trust your intuition, but do so couched in the understanding that the light and dark cycle has you covered if you follow it consistently and correctly.

From Vitamin D3 to beta-endorphin production via UV light and the POMC system to forms of melatonin produced from NIR light and darkness.

Feel free to let me know if I need to clarify anything 🙏🏼
